Patient Guide
At NMP our goal is to make your healthcare experience as easy and stress-free as possible. With that aim in mind we have created this guide to help you navigate easily through our healthcare system.
Our comfortable healthcare facilities are designed to usher you along your healthcare journey which might include several stops. On the right you can see a map of our main clinic in Orange Walk Town. There are two entrances, main and emergency, which patients can use according to their health situation. Our clinic is divided into two main areas: outpatient and inpatient facilities.
Our outpatient area includes daytime medical services such as medical consultations, diagnostic imaging, laboratory, and pharmacy. There are 11 consultation offices in this area. Here patients can move freely along the corridors or ask for information at reception.
At our inpatient area patients can obtain surgical, delivery and hospitalization services. There are 9 hospital rooms at our clinic, comfortably furnished and closely monitored by our competent nurses. Patients have limited access to this area, except for the waiting room at the front.
Our Medical System
Medical conditions can provoke different types of symptoms in patients. At NMP there are 3 main types of medical situations that we provide care for:
> Primary and Secondary care
> Urgent care
> Emergency care
Urgent care patients who come to the clinic with severe symptoms like pain are immediately escorted to our outpatient facilities where a response team will stabilize them and if necessary recommend hospitalization.
Emergency care patients are similar to urgent care ones and they require similar medical attention. The difference is that emergency care patients come to the clinic outside our normal daily time schedule. At NMP we provide 24/7 emergency services.
Primary and Secondary care
Patients who are not experiencing severe symptoms require primary or secondary care medical services according to their health condition. At NMP we offer medical services in 21 different medical specialties. In order to provide these patients with superior healthcare our medical system is organized in a few steps.
> Medical consultation
The center of healthcare services. Here the doctor examines the patient and gather information from them and determines what the patient needs.
> Diagnostic tests
These include laboratory or diagnostic imaging. After examination the doctor might ask for diagnostic tests to be performed in order to accurately identify the patient’s medical condition.
> Pharmacy
When the doctor has identified the medical condition affecting the patient, treatment can be prescribed, most of the time pharmaceutical treatment.
> Surgery
But there are some medical conditions that require interventional treatment
> Hospitalization
To observe a patient’s healing process more closely, specially after surgery.
At NMP we attend both appointments and walk in patients, but we recommend that you make an appointment if you don’t want to wait too long. When you come to the clinic please check in with our receptionist. After doing this you will pass with a nurse who will check your vital signs and ask you a few general questions about your health condition. Following this, you will be shown to the doctor’s office.
